Day 01: Arrival at Siem Reap & Local Sightseeing
Upon your arrival at Siem Reap International Airport, you will be greeted by your english speaking guide who will accompany you in a private car to your hotel for check-in.
After check-in, visit to the unique interior brick sculptures of Prasat Kravan, Srah Srang ("The Royal Baths" was once used or ritual bathing), Banteay Kdei (surrounded by 4 concentric walls), Ta Prohm Temple, one of the area’s most beautiful temples. Neak Pean, a fountain built in the middle of a pool (representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain-lake) and Preah Khan temple, Built by the King Jayavarman VII. Preah Khan is, like Ta Prohm, a place of towered enclosures and shoulder hugging corridors.
A visit to Ta Prohm Temple really gives you the feeling of discovering something hidden and truly ancient, giving you a real Indiana Jones vibe. The area served as a filming location for the 2001 movie, Tomb Raider. It is estimated that this vast, 600-room structure and the surrounding area once had a population of over 70,000 people. The temple contains a maze of courtyards and galleries, and it is well worth spending some time to explore its many dark corridors. Some walls and doorways of the ancient buildings have been left overgrown and gripped by huge trees and other foliage. Flocks of parrots in the trees add to the atmosphere and give you the feeling of discovering a temple lost in the jungle. The plan of the pyramidal conception of the temple combined with spaces, alleys, ditches is an ancient masterpiece of architectural design and construction.
Overnight Stay at Siem Reap.
Note: Visa is on arrival for Cambodia for guests with Indian Passport.
