Day 02: Relics of Istanbul Tour

Pick-up time is at 08:00 am, please be ready 10 minutes before the pick up at the lobby.

After recovering from your journey, meet your guide to stretch your legs and we will begin the walking tour from the Sultanahmet district, the heart of old Istanbul. We will visit Topkapi Palace (closed on Tuesdays), which, from the 15th to the 19th century, was the principal residence of the Ottoman Sultans. Topkapi Palace is now a museum. It also possesses numerous Ottoman court costumes and ceramics, notably including one of the world’s finest collections of Chinese celadon ceramics, many of which were gifts from other rulers. We also visit the Imperial Armory, displaying centuries of Ottoman weaponry. But perhaps the loveliest feature of Topkapi Palace is its courtyards with their ancient trees; it is easy to imagine the sultan strolling here far from the cares of state and empire.

Next, we will visit Hagia Sophia, it was built by the Emperor Justinian in the early 6th century AD and designed by Anthemius of Tralles and Isidore of Miletus, the church is one of the marvels of world architecture. Converted into a mosque in 1453, it is now a museum. Its massive dome still dominates the skyline of old Istanbul. It is also famed for its mosaics, including glittering portraits of emperors and empresses and a poignant Virgin and Child.

After lunch break (on your own expenses), you will visit The Hippodrome, the stadium of ancient Byzantium, held 100,000 spectators and featured objects from all corners of the empire. Of these, an Egyptian obelisk and a bronze sculpture of three entwined serpents from Delphi.

Continue to the Blue Mosque, which takes its name from the exquisite tiles adorning its interior. Built by Sultan Ahmet I in the early 17th century and designed by a pupil of Sinan, the greatest of Ottoman architects, it is the only imperial mosque with six minarets. Its courtyard is especially grand.

Next, explore The Grand Bazaar (closed on Sundays), which was the commercial heart of the old city and its 4,000 shops are full of treasures including carpets and kilims, silks, jewelry, ceramics, icons, and leather goods. Wandering through the Grand Bazaar, indulge in some shopping, Ottoman style. Return back to hotel later.

Overnight Stay at Istanbul.

Note: All the sightseeing today is on foot and with public transportation tram. Please wear comfortable footwear and do not hesitate to tell your guide if you need to take a break.

Day 06: Pamukkale Day Tour

After American breakfast at your hotel, proceed towards Pamukkale.

Pamukkale, meaning "cotton castle" in Turkish, is a natural site in Denizli in south-western Turkey. The area is famous for a carbonate mineral left by the flowing water. It is located in Turkey's Inner Aegean region, in the River Menderes valley, which has a temperate climate for most of the year. The ancient Greco-Roman city of Hierapolis was built on top of the white "castle" which is in total about 2,700 metres (8,860 ft) long, 600 m (1,970 ft) wide and 160 m (525 ft) high. It can be seen from the hills on the opposite side of the valley in the town of Denizli, 20 km away.

Arrive at Pamukkale after a 4 Hours drive. We then visit Travertine area (carry swimwear and no expensive items please) i.e. Cotton Castle (walking involved). The calcium oxide-rich waters flowing down the southern slope of Caldag located north of the ruins have, over the millennia, built up deposits of white travertine on the plateau thus fully justifying both the site's ancient name of Hierapolis (Holy City) and its modern one of Pamukkale (Cotton Castle). We shall also have a Mud Pool Bath session in the local pools at Pamukkale. Drive back to Antalya.

See the coastline of Antalya, including the mountains, pine forests, and Mediterranean Sea, and get great photo ops.

Later take flight to Istanbul. On arrival check in the hotel.

Day 07: Departure from Istanbul

After american breakfast at your hotel, check out from the hotel, continue on a tour of the 17th century Spice Bazaar, where you can find a vast diversity of spices, sacks of henna, many varieties of oils and herbs, and of course the world’s very best Turkish delight.
